The NHS is turning to highly skilled limited company contractors and umbrella company contractors, according to Badenoch and Clark.
The recruitment specialist’s latest Talent Spotlight shows that the NHS has increased its demand for contractors with skills in SQL server business intelligence and knowledge of NHS data.
Matt Gascoigne, Badenoch and Clark’s operations director, explained that Birmingham based NHS trusts are looking for information analysts to create new NHS datasets. More robust business intelligence and data warehouse solutions are required within the health service and this has led to the increased demand.
The expert also explained that data migration professionals, testers and trainers with experience in Cerbner and RiO are facing increased workloads as health trusts based in London look to complete major projects.
IT contractors may also be able to acquire more outsourced work. Ovum, the technology sector analyst, says the cash-strapped utilities sector is increasingly outsourcing its IT work even though it is generally reluctant to do so.
Ovum claims that the potential cost savings have left utility enterprises with no option but to consider outsourcing as a viable option.
Stuart Ravens, a principal analyst for Ovum, said a small but significant amount of IT contracts have been outsourced in recent months and he thinks this trend will increase over the coming 12 months and beyond. Utility companies are under increasing pressure to reduce costs and they have realised that outsourcing has to be given serious consideration.
As well as driving down costs, they must take into account investment in new infrastructure, industry consolidation and smart energy initiatives.
